With a slight chill in the air, winter makes itself known. Winter also comes with family gatherings during the holidays and what better place is there to have a family outing than at Reid Park Zoo? There are so many activities that you and your family can do during the holidays at the Zoo that will encourage everyone to disconnect from the chaos and connect with each other instead. Here are some of the most popular experiences at the Zoo over the holidays:
1. Family Behind the Scenes Tours
Make unforgettable memories with your family with an adventure unlike any other with our Family Behind the Scenes Tours! These tours will bring you into the daily lives of our animal care staff with a tour of the giraffe barn, the Zoo’s kitchen, an exclusive visit with the rhino, and an up-close giraffe encounter. This adventure is sure to leave your family more connected to each other and nature.
2. Zoo Lights!
One of Tucson’s most popular holiday traditions! With hot chocolate in one hand and family holding the other, there is no better way to enjoy thousands of twinkling lights and amazing lighted animal displays than at Zoo Lights. This year, Reid Park Zoo will also be celebrating the community and giving back by hosting Community Nights during Zoo Lights from December 7th– 19th. By partnering with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and Tucson A List the Zoo will be giving $1 off admission to Zoo Lights for anyone who brings a donation for one of these incredible organizations (See the complete list of acceptable donation items here). 3. Nature Play
Sometimes you just need to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. The Zoo’s Nature Play Days are perfect for doing just that! These are monthly play-based programs, each with their own theme, that encourage you and your family to get dirty, immerse yourself in nature, and, of course, have fun together. November’s Nature Play Day is the 24th from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and the theme is Forts! Come play with us!
