How You Can Help Your Zoo!
We hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe during this unparalleled time. We are so grateful for your friendship and support of Reid Park Zoo – thank you for being a part of our Zoo family.
We are asking for your help. The Zoo has been closed since March 18 (at the height of our busy season) due to COVID-19. This has lead to a loss of over $1 million in revenue the Zoo typically earns from admissions, memberships, programs, events, and Zoo activities. The Zoo has maintained quality, uninterrupted care for the animals as well as our Zoo grounds through various cost-cutting measures where possible; however, with no opening date yet confirmed from the City of Tucson, our need continues to grow.
There are a variety of fun ways to help your Zoo:
Make a donation: We are so appreciative of your support! With the new Covid-19 CARES Act relief bill, you can claim up to a $600 deduction for charitable giving and you will not need to itemize on your 2020 tax return to get it! If you do itemize, you may deduct charitable contributions up to 100% of your adjusted gross income. Please consult your tax advisor to learn more and ensure you take full advantage of these changes.
Adopt an Animal: Symbolically adopt one of the incredible animals at the Zoo! We recently added a new adoption level that includes a virtual “chat” at the animal habitat of your choice!
Purchase Raffle Tickets: Enter to win a 2020 Ford F-150 truck or $10,000 through Angel Charity Chance Tickets (don’t forget to enter Reid Park Zoo as the Seller) which will support the Zoo’s upcoming World of Play Adventure Zone.
Join the Brick Recognition Program: Make your mark — literally — on Reid Park Zoo when you contribute to the Bigger Spaces, Smiling Faces Capital Campaign by sponsoring a brick paver in Reid Park Zoo’s new Welcome Plaza! Bricks can be personalized as a tribute, a memorial, or in other ways starting at $250.
Get a Zoo Mask: Do your part for safety and be the most stylish person on your block when you’re sporting a custom Zoo themed mask! Stylish options include tiger, zebra, giraffe, Reid Park Zoo, and two designs featuring elephant calf Penzi!
Renew your membership or become a member: Even though the Zoo is closed, it is a great time to be a member! Members get fantastic virtual benefits (including weekly live chats from the Zoo) and receive Member-exclusive newsletters about what is happening at the Zoo. Once we are able to reopen, all memberships will be extended to compensate for the length of the Zoo’s closure.
Support Us While You Shop: Supporting Reid Park Zoo can be as simple as placing an order on Amazon! Set ReidParkZoo as your beneficiary on AmazonSmile.com and make a contribution to the Zoo every time you shop.
Give a gift to the animals: Buy an item off our wishlist for enrichment items for the Zoo animals.
Thank you!
Your support means more than ever during this unprecedented time!
