Elephant Origami Challenge
Our friends at 96 Elephants have issued a challenge: to help create the largest display of origami elephants EVER! The 35,000 elephants in this display will represent the number of elephants killed for their tusks each year. You can contribute to this momentous project by folding origami elephants and delivering them to the Zoo’s front gate; we’ll mail them to the project’s headquarters on September 1, 2016.
We’ll also be folding origami elephants at two upcoming Zoo events: our World Elephant Day Celebration on August 13, and Nandi’s 2nd Birthday Party on August 20. We hope you’ll come fold some elephants with your friends at the Zoo!
Origami elephants must be folded according to one of four approved templates. The templates, instructions, and video tutorials can be found here.
If you have questions about this project, please call the Zoo’s Education Department at 520-837-8200 or email zooeducation@tucsonaz.gov.
