Training with a Bald Ibis
Larry, a southern bald ibis, came to Reid Park Zoo last year along with other ibises and they were all added to our Flight Connection aviary. It was immediately clear that Larry was special and wanted to work more closely with animal care staff, rather than socialize with other birds. So Larry is now in training for animal encounter demonstrations with our education staff.
In this clip you can see Larry enjoying a training session, which includes foraging for grubs before voluntarily entering a crate to head home. Great job, Larry!
