Jaguar Jaw Muscles

Even though the Zoo is currently closed, our animal care staff members are working hard to provide enrichment opportunities for all of our animals. Today we’re Bringing The Zoo To You with Bella and her impressive bite! Jaguars have the strongest jaw muscles of all of the big cats. Their bite force is around 1,500 pounds per square inch, which is about double that of a tiger! Bella recently got the opportunity to use this strength to pull down a beef bone that her Zoo Keepers secured onto a log in her habitat.
