As part of the 60th anniversary celebration of Reid Park Zoo, we’ve been featuring stories and photos from our guests on their experiences at the Zoo over the years. Recently, a guest shared a fond memory of Zoo Keys — how she still held on to her key decades later and how much she and her family had enjoyed their key.
We were touched that we received so many comments from people telling us how much they treasured their keys and wished they could purchase one again to have as a keepsake or introducing their child or grand child to a key.
While the Zoo Key audio boxes were discontinued years ago, we had a supply of the keys in storage and have decided to offer them to guests as part of our anniversary as a way to bring memories and collect a piece of Zoo history — all while helping do something good, too!
For a limited time, you can purchase one or more of the old elephant Zoo Keys at the front ticket booth as a keepsake. Proceeds benefit conservation field projects that the Zoo supports here at home and around the world to help save wild animals and wild places.
While you can’t turn back time with the key, you can reminisce and share a little of the joy of visiting the Zoo way back when and unlocking a world of adventure that came with it. That joy and adventure continues even more so today.
