Reid Park Zoo is celebrating dads of all species this Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21. Dads of all ages receive free Zoo daytime admission with a paid child or adult admission at the gate. Zoo hours are 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

As they stroll the grounds, guests can meet and share the stories of some of the Zoo’s animal fathers and learn about their role in parenting and family units. Zoo keepers will also give special presentations on how the Zoo cares for its animal families. 

For a unique Father’s Day gift, guests can treat dad to a giraffe feeding experience at the Zoo’s giraffe habitat at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. In the Zoo’s gift shop, they can also find an array of unique t-shirts, water bottles, and earth-friendly items that give back by supporting the Zoo and the animals, as well as conservation programs to preserve wild animals and their wild habitats.  

Sunday, June 21 is also World Giraffe Day. There will be special giraffe themed activities and Zoo keeper experiences with the giraffes throughout the day. Guests can check the Activities Board in the Zoo’s Entry Plaza for a full schedule.

9:00 a.m. -Blue Duiker Habitat   

Zoo Keeper chat will discuss dad Viazi and his offspring Gnocchi 

9:30 a.m. – Elephant Habitat 

Zoo Keepers will talk about elephant dads 

10:30 a.m. – Conservation Learning Center

Zoo Keeper Chat will feature frog dads and recent froglet births

1:00 p.m.  – Flight Connection Aviary

Zoo Keeper Chat will focus on Bruce, the ibis, as a dad
