Take part in a global conservation movement by going on a walk in Reid Park! Join Reid Park Zoo’s Jed Dodds and Dusty of the Tucson Roadrunners for a fun morning walk in solidarity with the Wildlife Ranger Challenge and in celebration of World Rhino Day. After the walk, get to know the species you are helping to protect during Zoo Keeper chats inside the Zoo — Zoo admission for the day is included with your event participation.

Festivities begin in the Zoo’s Welcome Plaza, with check in opening at 7:30 a.m.

The Wildlife Rangers Challenge, powered by Tusk.org, supports front-line rangers across Africa by raising vital funds for frontline conservation efforts and awareness of the important work rangers do to protect Africa’s biodiversity.

On September 20, more than 150 ranger teams spanning the African continent will unite to compete in a half marathon race carrying their typical 48 pound backpack and equipment. Teams around the world are partnering with them to show solidarity for the vital role they play in protecting Africa’s wildlife.

Registration:

Pre-registration is required and funds raised will benefit conservation.

Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. at the front entrance of the Zoo.  The walk begins at 8 a.m. See map below for the walk route.

Additional donations can be made during registration. Money raised through the Wildlife Ranger Challenge will be matched by the Scheinberg Relief Fund to be unlocked by participating ranger teams.
