Monarch Butterfly Monitoring at the Zoo
Friday, August 4, 2023
11:00 am — 12:00 pm
Join us to look for Monarchs!
Help Reid Park Zoo monitor the Zoo’s pollinator garden in search of monarchs and other pollinators as part of the 7th annual Monarch Monitoring Blitz! Visit the pollinator garden on Friday, August 4th between 11 am and 12 pm to join Reid Park Zoo staff as they monitor the garden using Nature’s
Notebook. Staff will also report monarch sightings to Journey North. This information will help scientists understand monarch butterfly and milkweed distribution, timing of reproduction, and the use of natural resources. While visiting the garden during this time, learn what you can do to help save monarchs and other pollinators, as well as what makes monarchs found in the Sonoran desert region unique.
Free with paid Zoo admission, no registration necessary.
All ages welcome. No experience needed.
Meet at the Pollinator Garden from 11am-12pm
