Themed Events at the Zoo

Throughout the year, Reid Park Zoo offers a variety of special themed events that provide added value to a Zoo Visit. The goal is to provide innovative Zoo experiences that deliver key education messages in a fun way.

While the themes vary throughout the year, every event has the following characteristics:

  • Participation is free to guests with regular Zoo admission.
  • The event takes place on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday
  • It is conducted for approximately two hours during peak visitation times.
  • It is promoted via the Zoo’s website and publications.

Past themes have included Earth Day, World Elephant Day, International Vulture Day, I Love Zoo (Valentine’s Day), and Birthdays for many of our individual animals.

Animal Presentations

Educators and Zoo Keepers conduct public presentations that offer Zoo guests the opportunity to learn more about the Zoo’s animal residents in a unique and memorable way. These presentations take place at various animal exhibits including otter, tiger, and elephant; presentation times are posted in advance on the Event Board located at the Zoo’s front entrance. Popular topics include animal enrichment, training, and conservation.
