Capital Campaigns

A number of projects have been completed since the Master Plan of 2001.  Most recently, the elephant exhibit – Expedition Tanzania which has set the “bar” much higher for the quality and scale of future animal habitats and visitor experiences.  Other elements of the Plan that have been completed since 2001 include:

  • Main Entrance of the Zoo
  • Gift shop expansion
  • Snack bar/café expansion
  • Lee H. Brown Family Conservation Learning Center
  • Kenya Get Wet splash pad
  • Rhino habitat and barn
  • Special event and rental space
  • Presentation stage

The next planned capital project will be the state of the art Veterinary Health Center.  Other changes to the Zoo in the near future include a new gibbon exhibit, and a new exhibit in former elephant habitat.
