Summer Safari Nights 2022

Get a lion’s share of the fun with Reid Park Zoo’s Summer Safari Nights, select Saturday evenings!

Enjoy the Zoo and cooler evening temperatures as you watch the sunset at this series of themed nights featuring different keeper chats, animal encounters, artifact stations, and special activities. Refresh with dinner and a cold drink at the Zoofari Market, listen to live music by some of Tucson’s best bands. Take a ride on the Cox Jungle Carousel, and play games with Tucson Parks and Recreation’s ‘Ready, Set, Rec! There will be a different theme each week, so every visit brings something new and plenty of photo opportunities to remember a great evening.

Tickets:

  • Free for Zoo members
  • $10.50 for adults (ages 15-61)
  • $8.50 seniors (ages 62+)
  • $6.50 for children ages 2-14
  • Free for children under 2

July 30: Dog Days and Astronomy Summer

Look up! Tucson is known for some of the best starry views, and there’s no time like the summer to appreciate their light during the evening hours. Beat the heat and join us for some down-to-earth fun during this sultry dog days of summer evening. Spend time with the Zoo’s pack of African wild dogs as we start to winding down summer. Learn how animals in the wild use the stars and seasons to search for food and mates, find water and navigate migration.  Gaze into the skies of a Portable Planetarium and go stargazing with Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association.

August 6: Positively Primates

Hot Blues Music by the Bad News Blues Band

Learn how to brachiate like monkeys and apes during climbing exercises with Rock Solid Climbing and Fitness! Hang out with the Zoo’s lemurs and squirrel monkeys during special keeper chats, grab a cold drink and join us for a swingin’ night exploring the world of man’s closest animal relatives.

August 13: Social Networking in the Animal Kingdom

Are you a social animal, or do you prefer to spend most of your time cozy at home alone? Get to know the social dynamics on display at the Zoo and how your favorite animals interact with others of their species. Readings and book signing premier of “Kami the Koala Makes a Decision” by children’s author Teydon Rae! Join the Serengeti Celebration with Broadway in Tucson for the upcoming production of “The Lion King.” See if you can follow clues to spot animals at the Zoo that are also in the Lion King; make a fun selfie and be sure to tag the Zoo and Broadway in Tucson. You could win tickets to see a performance of the Lion King!
