Family Pride Night at the Zoo

Friday, June 28, 2024
6:00 pm — 8:00 pm

Celebrate Pride with the whole family at Reid Park Zoo’s first ever Family Pride Night!

Show your colors this Pride month with Reid Park Zoo! Bring the whole family out for games, live music, animal viewing, and more.

  • Enjoy live music by the Vinyl Grooves as they perform your favorite Brit Invasion and American Rock hits from the ’60s-’80s
  • Get the Inside Scoop: Search for the whole rainbow of colors as you explore the Zoo while getting the Inside Scoop on some of the Zoo’s most vibrant animals — and what the colors of the Pride flag symbolize for the LGBTQ+ community
  • Watch animals enjoying special enrichment treats
  • Create Your Own Animal Rainbow with crafts for artists big and small
  • Catch an animal encounter or a keeper chat to hear about your Zoo favorites from the people who care them from them every day!
    •  6:30 p.m. – Rainbow Boa
    • 7:00 p.m. – Andean Bear
    • 7:30 p.m. – Black-Necked Swans
  • Feed a Giraffe at our Giraffe Encounter! ($3 additional charge)
  • Glitter tattoos and face painting (with an additional charge)
  • The fun doesn’t stop there: we’ll have caricatures, lawn games, the World of Play adventure zone open until dusk, and aviaries open until dusk
  • Meet local community organizations at the resource fair:
    • Family Pride Initiative (where you can make your own pride button)
    • Southern Arizona Senior Pride
    • Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce
    • Arizona’s Children Association
    • Governor’s Office Constituent Engagement
    • Southern Arizona Aids Foundation (SAAF)
    • Pima County Public Library
    •  PAN, Precision Aging Network at the University of Arizona

This Pride Month, and every day of every year, Reid Park Zoo recognizes our LGBTQIA+ employees, volunteers, donors, and guests. We appreciate the time, skills, contributions and compassion you bring to the Zoo to help further our mission of saving wild animals and wild places. We respect diversity in all its wonderful expressions in nature and in our world, and we are committed to ensuring that all community members and guests feel seen, welcome and valued at the Zoo.  We are looking forward to an amazing night at the Zoo!
