Tamandua Pup Update!

Today we’re Bringing the Zoo to You with an update on our tamandua pup that was born this winter!

Our new tamandua pup, recently named Oso, is growing strong and doing well with his mom, Xochi. Oso has been enjoying going for rides on his mom’s back as she walks and climbs on outings with our animal care staff. Oso has also started braving leaving his mom’s back for short intervals to explore on his own! Our animal care team still closely monitor his weight and are happy to report that he is still gaining it well.

Oso got his name from the plush bear toy the veterinary staff uses to safely and comfortably weigh him!
