Staying Cool at the Zoo
Most cats aren’t crazy about water, but tigers enjoy plunging into pools and streams. Swimming is a great strategy for beating the heat in their native Asian habitat…and here in Arizona! During the summer heat, many animals at the Zoo are also given access to cooled areas Behind the Scenes so they can choose where to spend their time throughout the day. We hope our visitors understand that some animals may not be visible during hot weather; animal health and comfort is always our first priority.
