Rhea Visit

Good morning from our pair of common rheas!

Many people mistake these animals for ostriches, and while they are related, rheas are their own species from South America! Reid Park Zoo is home to two female rheas, one of which happens to be leucistic (meaning partially missing pigment) which makes her appear white.

These animals are often quite social, and walked right up to the camera to say hi to you all at home!
