Introducing Nandi!

NandiThe entire community was invited to participate in a naming poll to choose the name for the new baby elephant, and we’re pleased to announce the winning name: Nandi (Nahn-dee), which is a common siSwati name for girls and means “sweet” or “fun” in the Zulu language. You can read more about the naming process, and about our fans’ reaction to the new name, in this article in the Arizona Daily Star.

Nandi is usually on exhibit from 9:00-11:30am. On weekends, she may also be out in the afternoon from 12:30-2:00pm. However, each day’s schedule is determined by a number of factors, so last minute changes may occur. For all the latest news about Nandi and the elephant herd, click here!
