Bayou the Gator Weighs In During a Routine Check-Up

At Reid Park Zoo we strive to allow all of our animals to participate in their own healthcare. One basic behavior that is important for animals to learn is to step onto a scale for routine weighing. Bayou the American alligator is a pro at this skill and reliably follows a target pole up onto a massive scale in return for some yummy chicken. At this recent weigh-in he was about 275 pounds!
