Hornbill Chick Update: All Three Chicks Continue to Grow

Nancy the trumpeter hornbill and her three chicks continue to do well inside of their nest cavity.

“We anticipate them coming out between August 1 and August 14,” says Animal Care Supervisor Alex. “That is when the chicks will be 50 days old, when they are fully feathered and ready to fly. Nancy will undergo a molt in the nest before they come out.”

Until then the chicks continue to grow and be cared for by Nancy from inside the nest and by their father Henry, who brings food from the outside.
