Do Tamanduas Smell Bad?
If you were to ask one of our animal care staff what single thing stands out most when cleaning up after tamanduas and giant anteaters, they might answer that it’s the smell!
Both of these species have extremely potent smelling fecal matter due to their unique insectivore diets. Our tamanduas live behind the scenes and when staff walk past their habitats, it is often clear with one whiff which animal lives in that space!
