All Aboard the new Reid Park Zoo Railway
The Reid Park Zoo Railway rolled out of its depot for its inaugural ride this Friday, March 1 with a special ribbon cutting ceremony. The Zoo Train has always been a beloved added feature of the Zoo for kids of all ages. The newly improved model is even more exciting with many wonderful features, including being wheelchair accessible!
Families of all abilities can ride the Reid Park Zoo Railway which takes guests on a scenic journey around the beautiful Gene C. Reid Park pond. The new train has more spacious head room, leg room, and wiggle room in each compartment as well as a traditional iconic locomotive. A whistle, bell, and natural steam water “smoke stack” add to a realistic train experience. With the new wheelchair ramp connection to the caboose, there is room for guests in wheelchairs or walkers and their guests to sit.
To ride the train, visit the depot located just outside the front gate. You can purchase your single ride ticket for $4 per person, or save a few dollars with the train punch card! Tickets can be purchased with cash at the cashier windows or with credit card/mobile with the conductor. Proceeds from the train support the Zoo and conservation programs, so you can ride and help save animals too!
The Reid Park Zoo Railway is subject to closure due to inclement weather.
