Zoo Caper Summer Camp Registration Starts 2/19/13 at 8am!

Zoo Caper Summer Camp will open for registration at 8am on Tuesday, February 19^th! Multiple camp sessions will be available for campers entering 1^st through 6^th grade, with different topics and activities for each age group. Click here for schedule and pricing information.

Howl-o-ween 2012 was a Great Success!

Teen Volunteers Complete their Training 6-2-12

Congratulations to our Teen Volunteer class of 2012! They have completed their training and are now ready to greet you in the Zoo. Education “stations,” crafts, games, and face painting are all activities they will be hosting for Zoo guests. Look for their green shirts and smiling faces at animal exhibits and in the Conservation Learning Center. Go Teens!

Teachers enjoy workshop at the Zoo on 3/20/10

Tucson teachers spent some quality time at the Zoo this weekend at a FREE hands-on workshop hosted by Zoo Education staff. The teachers took home curricula to use in their classrooms AND will bring their students to the Zoo this fall to try out some of the activities they enjoyed. If you’re a teacher of grades K-6 and are interested in participating in a future workshop, email zooeducation@tucsonaz.gov with your contact information and the grade level you teach!

Manzanita students help enrich Zoo animals

Second grade students from Manzanita Elementary have been busy preparing treats for the Zoo’s primates–cotton mopheads with Fruit Loops cereal tied to each string! The mandrills, gibbons, and macaques use their handy opposable thumbs and fingers to comb through the mops and pick out the treats. Projects like these keep students AND Zoo animals busy and having fun. Manzanita students will be coming to the Zoo all week to enjoy Behind-the-Scenes tours, and MAY get to see their mops being enjoyed by the primates if animal health and keeper schedules allow.

Burn off those pumpkin pie calories at 3:00 on Saturday, November 28, 2009 with a Behind-the-Scenes tour at the Zoo, and discover the rewards and challenges of caring for over 500 exotic animals every day! The tour is just $15.00 per person ($10.00 for Zoo Members). Pre-registration is required, and children must be at least 5 years old to participate.
